This so-called trainer should be shot! I am not a professional trainer, but I have a lot of experience with rescuing and rehabilitating neglected and abused dogs. The best way to get a shy or fearful dog to gain trust and less fear is gentle, consistent handling. Not piling trauma on top of trauma. Please don't go back to this guy! I have rehabilitated abused Goldens as well as Pit Bulls. It took some time, but they all responded well to a firm but gentle hand and eventually gained confidence and trust in me. You obviously care a lot about your dog, and there is hope for her if you find the right trainer.
