First off -- you *Must* prevent it -- if he's marking in the house then go back to Housebreaking 101 and keep him leashed TO you unless your eyes are ON him.
Is he neutered? That will encourage him to not mark (and he'll likely live longer).
Make sure you clean the chair with a non-ammoniated cleaner. It can be VERY difficult to get the odor out (even if YOU can't smell it, the dog can).
You honestly may need to "set him up" to catch him sniffing TO mark (he'll typically do that JUST before he marks) and then tell him "No!" and snag his leash and march him outside. Keep him leashed ALL the time -- you can just stand on the leash to get his attention but it gives you more control.
If he marks in one place he WILL mark in others.
