took him in this morning for more blood work so will know the results tomorrow. But the vet said if it is a portosystemic shunt it can only be treated with surgery no meds...which makes sense because it is a vein that is bypassing the liver. But just because his bile acids are high (37.1), does this have to mean a shunt or could it not just be a problem specifically with his liver that can be treated without surgery?? I'm a bit leary because he jumped to this shunt thing the first day I took Dexter in and he did the blood work but from what I've read seizures can be caused by sooo many different things...so why did he go to this right away and he also said it was common in Bostons and nothing I have read mentions Boston Terriers as prone to this. Anyhow, hoping and praying it's NOT the liver. Any thoughts??
