As dogs age they sleep more ... and more often. And ... sometimes when a dog gets quite elderly they will "wander" at night rather than sleep.
a "good night's sleep" is more a human term -- we assume we aren't going to sleep during the day so we want undisturbed sleep at night. Dogs tend to sleep when they are tired -- but some are more lively in the morning than others.
Luna is ALWAYS first up ... Billy is always last. But he's no where NEAR as hard to wake up as Muffin used to be. Man, I used to have to set off an atom bomb next to him to get him up.
