Subject:         Dog pees in his crate

I have a dog who is posing a challenge for me.

Wrigley is a 1 year old neutered Airedale
Up until three months ago - he would come to work with me every day (I've just switched jobs where dogs are not able to come to work)
He started acting up (understandably), so I contained him in an exercise pen (which he peed in). I have since switched to a crate (which is the right size for him).

The problem is that he pees in his crate and lies in it. I started putting his dog food in with him and he continues to pee in his crate - in his dog food. He will even eat the dog food after it's sat in his pee. He was not raised in a dirty environment - I've known the breeder for quite a while and her puppies are kept clean and well.

I was hoping to increase Wrigley's house access while I'm at work after two weeks of consecutive pee-free days, but I'm not sure how I get there and what my next steps should be.

Any help is appreciated.
