Gloria --

Maybe I'm not making myself clear.

a FEMALE gets spayed. A MALE does not. A male dog gets "neutered".

A female spay is like a hysterectomy for you and I.

A male neuter is where they remove the testicles. It makes them not able to mate successfully and it stops the production of testosterone.

A male OR female dog can be altered at 8 weeks old with a laser surgery. It is commonly done for EITHER after 6 months of age.

Yes, he probably needs to have his dog neutered.

But don't tell him to have his male dog 'spayed'. He will laugh at you -- it's the wrong word.
