I'm taking all the suggestions by all of you very seriously and seeing what adopts well to Velma's personality and energy level, as well as to this particular climate. We have obedience school later today and she's been learning very quickly, so I think it will be fun (it usually is).

Luckily I have a very large patio (40x10) that I had fenced in when I moved here, so there is space to throw the balls and kongs for her. So far, she loves to chase them, pick them up and toss them around for herself - but still is not interested in bringing them back to me. Just watching her tossing the ball in the air and then pouncing on it makes me laugh, but I'm working to get her to retrieve it, too.

It's been years since I had a young dog, so this is a lot of fun for me (and for her too). Thanks again and I will keep reporting on her progress. She definitely has some interesting quirks!
