I live in Central Florida and it's the same here - once the Zellwood Corn Festival is over the beginning of May NO ONE ventures outside til at least November 1st!

Look to the nearest decent sized city and see if they have a training club -- sometimes that helps and they may have a place indoors where they can go for training.

Honestly, don't let separation anxiety for the other dog get a foothold. Deliberately DO things separately with them -- this time YOU get to go, the next time HE gets to go ... even if it is just going out to the mailbox to get the mail on leash!! Leave the one 'behind' with a stuffed Kong or something while you go -- JUST so they get used to being separate.
