long time no post but I do check in every once in a while to see what everyone is doing..... It has been an interesting go 'round with the little guy for the last while. We thought we had lost him a couple of times and the short version is he has developed diabetes (14 U's insulin twice a day) and about a month ago he went completely blind, very suddenly. He is also on norvasc (5 mg) once a day 'cause his blood pressure was through the roof. We are also trying him out on Denosyl for liver function and cognitive help. The cushings is progressing pretty well as expected. The good news is that he is still pretty happy and engaged in life and doesn't seem to be in any pain so we are playing it by ear so far. He is still teaching me things - I am amazed at how quickly he learned to deal with the blindness with a few hiccups - I don't think we humans could come close to learning that fast. The vet assistant said that they have had dogs come in and have had to inform the owners that their dog was actually blind because especially if it is a slow process the canines can learn to cope so well that it can go un noticed - find that hard to believe but one never knows. We worked out a routine on the shots and he actually seems to look forward to the shots 'cause it means snuggles and some treats. Anyhoo, he still has his sense of humour and finally will actually listen to some things for treats - just like a normal doggie...heehee David
