Just to add something real quick. I hung a bell by the back door and would take Bert and Ernie to the bell, tap it with their nose and then take them to the "potty spot" and keep them there until victory, saying the same thing each time as Callie had said. "Potty outside" was my phrase and I did quite the jig when they went. I actually put them on a schedule and rang that little set of 3 bells on long cord each and every time we went out. I even had them ring it when they wanted to bask in the summer sun. It is their way of getting out that door.
Now, when they do ring it, I don't delay and go directly to the door, if they are doing what I ask of them, then I need to do my part.
Right now one of them is having some problems at times, no UTI, just a bit of laziness, so we are back to square one, with taking him to the bell and tapping his nose to the bells several times and talking him through the process. No changing of ways, reinforcing what he already knows.
