foster....many many rescues will furnish not only vet care but even food. They just don't have enough room. If you can spare a bit of houseroom and a little time, you can save a life.
and if you can only do one thing for animals this holiday season, try to talk sense to people who want to give an animal as a gift. If they want to give an animal gift, ask them to give a sponsorship of a homeless animal in a sanctuary! I "gave my mom a horse", sponsoring one in her name at Best Friends. She's thrilled to get news of "her" horse's progress after surgery and recovery after years of abuse. Many local rescues and sanctuaries have a sponsor program, for those who cannot foster or adopt.
