Subject:	potty training my chi

We are potty training our chi but he is having alot of poop accidents on the carpet. When I am at work (a couple of days per week), and at night, I leave him in the bathroom with a create (open) and paper (which he uses). During the day he is free to roam, and likes to poop on the carpet. Should I crate him more when I am at home during the day.. His crate is in the bathroom and I wonder if crating him (with the door closed) will freak him out as it is never closed. I try to take him out regularly but it is getting cold , and if i let him out when it is too cold, he turns around and waits at the door shivering.. I can`t really get rid of the paper as i am gone 3 days per week for 8 hrs. or should i.... (he is 5.5 mos old)
