There's been a horrible run of kennel cough going here.. and any dog in a dog park who hasn't had it, seems to be catching it.
Two different vets (I recently changed vets, see my post below about Farley's upcoming TPLO) have told me that you should wait a minimum of 90 days *after* the cough clears up before you expose the dog to the canine public.
BOTH our babies caught it last summer - it was quite distressing to hear them both running back to the house, alternatng horking coughs. (Although it was also humourous.. like a bad james brown imitation).
This dog is *NOT* safe to have in your van, as the bordatella will live in any fabric you have for an additional period (and i'm not sure what it is). One doctor I know told me not to have canines in my home for 180 days after my dogs were free of cough.....
