If you remember "Behind Blue Eyes" who used to be on here who did a lot of pit-type rescue, there are times when the history of the breed can simply rise up for no discernable reason. Altho Frankie is a staffie rather than a pit -- I wish I had more wisdom for you.

Before the vet actually releases Frankie make sure they look for things like a sore tooth or any other signs that it might be medical or seizure/tumor related. That could be another possibility.
