Ok, I have had Larry for just over a year now. He is kept in a 36" wire crate when I'm not home. I have tried him in an x-pen and in the bathroom ... results were the same. He used to belong to an old roommate of mine and he did the same thing with her. He has another dog crated beside him which has stopped his howling when I'm not home. I have even tried crating them both together but he still makes a mess. He also urinates in the crate but since he's male it ends up outside the actual crate. We solved that problem by placing a bowl in one place outside the crate and he now pees in there. (Give him credit for that). He does not make a mess in th house unless he's confined. If I leave him free he has a party and gets into EVERYTHING and destroys things as well. I know that for 2 years he was kept in a research lab at the university of Guelph but he was never used in a study. He's a good other than this. He listens very well and he can even be off-leash at the park. But this crate thing is getting to me. I've tried having someone come in while I'm out but it doesn't seem to help. There are days when I'm gone for hours and there's no mess ... but more often than not there is.

I think I answered all your questions LOL Any help you guys can give me would be great! I really appreciate it! Thanks again!

Jennifer and Larry
