We adopted a 6 month old rescue dog a little over a week ago. She's very timid with new things, but has definitely come out of her shell around us. But on walks she barely moves. She'll spend 5 minutes smelling the ground in one spot, then move 2 steps and do it again. She isn't interested in treats or our excited urgings. Once we finally get her moving, things get better -- but that often takes 30 minutes of us dancing around, begging her to come. Starting tomorrow I have to go to work at 8:30 in the morning, so I won't be able to spend more than 1 hour walking her before I leave (she hates to go out in the dark and the sun rises at 7:30). I'm worried that she's not getting enough exercise because of this. Any suggestions? Just so you know: we're using a gentle leader head collar.
