This is absolute nonsense, and PETA-inspired politically correct balderdash. Who says dogs "end up with damaged tracheas"? Bassets and other loose-skinned breeds can use slip collars and choke collars when they're very young; as young as two months. You have to use this kind of collar: a regular buckle collar will slip right over their heads.

Koehler's methods aren't "abusive", even to people who "know and love dogs". Lighten up with this hysterical garbage, please. Anyone who doesn't pamper a dog, teach it absolutely no discipline, and spoil it rotten isn't "abusive".
