Subject:	Help...Cat pooping outside of litter box

Could someone please help me. For the past 3-4 months one of my cats is pooping outside box (1-3feet away) early in the morning. I have told her off, ignored her behavior, scolded her and always continued to clean it up. None of the above worked. I took her to the Vet who suggested an "attitude" problem and that I should at nightime clean up the room and leave her in it overnight. (with water, food & bed plus very clean litter etc) Most nights are good, but this morning there she is waiting to get out with the poop outside the box. Other times the room is clean and she is using the litter then within a hour she will poop outside her box. Any suggestions, as I am ready to give her to the Humane Society. I can't deal with it anymore. Please give me your ideas.
