there is no reason not to, and many reasons to do it. The people here can give you the reasons in detail if you want them... reasons beyond the mess and upheaval, and puppies if you did bring in a compatable male dog. uhm, I would find some better sources of information than you've gotten so far... that shouldn't be very hard to find. :o). Dogs do sometimes hump for dominance or whatever, but this two/three weeks twice a year is so much the textbook example of heat that it is sometimes hard to get people to understand how much it can vary in length and frequency.
