Subject: help, unexpected hamster babies this morning!

Hi, My daughter's gifts for Sweetest Day (2 supposedly same-sex
hamsters) have led to a surprise litter of babies this morning! This
was obviously unexpected and I have tried to do some quick research on
the internet about what to do next...

We took the male out (now we know for sure!), but here's the problem:
The mom had her babies on the small, upper level of a CritterTrail 2
house, which means I think it is very dangerous for the babies to
basically have no room to crawl except down a long tube!! Everything I
read says absolutely do not move the babies, etc. but I can't leave them
up there?!?!? Can or will the mom move them? Or, should I put on some
gloves and try to scoop up the whole nest and put it on the first floor
of the cage?

I can't do anything right away since daughter has gone to school and I
need to go into work (umm, hamster having babies is probably not the
best 'I can't come into work today' excuse...!)

Thanks for any replies, etc.! I am totally stressed :-) At least we
know what my daughter's boyfriend's family members are all getting for
Christmas, lol!
