I adopted a dog 4 days ago (2 year old boxer/australian shepard mix). She is a wonderful, loving dog but had never been around cats before. I brought her home and we have 2 indoor cats and HAD 3 outdoor cats - one of which had had kittens about 2 weeks ago, of which only 1 survived. We knew right away that she was very interested in the cats. She harasses the indoor cats but has yet to catch one alone. She had chased an outdoor cat up a tree on 2 occasions. Today, she was outside and caught the young mother cat and killed her. I do not believe her intent was to kill the cat, but nonetheless she did. We now have the 2 week old kitten to try to keep alive.... I really don't want to give the dog back, but I won't get rid of my cats as a result of adopting this dog. What can I do? Is it possible to train the dog!?! I've never had a dog that I knew, or even believed, would kill a cat!! HELP!
