Your current cat will get used to the kitten eventually, just be sure to slowly introduce them. Try keeping the new kitten secluded to one room in your home with a door and let them sniff eachother out real good, after a week or so your cat should be fine with the kitten. Or if you have a carry cage, put the kitten in it so its safe from your other cat incase he/she gets upset and let your cat check out the kitten. (dont leave the kitten in the cage for a long time though, maybe 10-15 mins to allow your cat to investigate and then return the kitten to a secluded area)Try that a few times. It will take time, specially if your cat has been the only cat in the house for 6 years. As for the leukemia, I havn't had much experience with cats with that disease. That would best be left for your vet to advise you on.
