take the baby to another house that hasn't had cats (grandma's maybe), being careful to wash the clothes and equipment if they have been in their own house for long. If the baby still reacts, it might be food, or detergent or dust or something. If the baby doesn't react anymore, have the cats meet the baby before the baby goes home, that would determine if it is the cats or something else in the baby's house that isn't at grandma's house. that might help determine if the baby is allergic to the cats or to something else, it isn't too hard to figure out there is an allergy, but it can be hard to figure out what he or she is allergic to. It would be heartbreaking to get rid of the cats, only to find that isn't what the baby is allergic to.
