Oftentimes people with allergies are allergic to more than just one thing so even IF it is a cat
allergy the baby is probably allergic to dust mites, pollen etc as well. Not to mention the cat
allergens are already so dispersed throughout the house even if she got rid of the cats the
allergens would remain in the home for years to come. I don't care how well you clean you
won't get all of it out of the house.

Google "cat allergies" and I know you'll come up with lots of information. I did a search for
that once due to my sister being very allergic to cats. My hubby and I had just bought our
house (I did not have any cats of my own at the time) and my sister came over to visit. Her
allergies went nuts, we later found out from the neighbors that 2 years before a cat had lived
in our house. Right after we bought the house we scrubbed the whole thing top to bottom,
put a fresh coat of paint on all the walls, cleaned the furnace and ducts, and had all the
carpeting professionally cleaned and my sister still had a reaction in our house. I have read
similar things when looking up cat allergies. Based on that I think its pointless to rehome the
cats unless she wants to move to a brand new house where cats have never lived. I think
she'd be better to do things like replace carpets with flooring, use a hepa filter, keep the
baby's room off limits to the cats, etc.
