I find a good mixture for the Insectavores is wet Chicken cat food blended in the blender with Kaytee bird formula. My babies thrive on it. On this diet they don't need water, but when they get all their feathers and are almost ready to fledge, just plain wet cat food will do. I suggest Friskee's Chicken, either prime filets or cut apart the sliced. Water can be offered in a bottlecap in his cage when he begins to move about, and in a bowl when he begins to hop. They may want to bathe in it or drink. I hope this helped; anymore concerns IM me at TheDarkestAngelM@aol.com. I am a licensed rehabber and I've been rehabbing for 9 years now. Good luck! =]
