Subject:	one blue egg -- no mama!

After cutting a big bush in my garden I found a lovley nest with just one blue egg ( i think it's Robin's) on a small tree. I have not seen any birds near it since I cut the bush and I am wondering if maybe I scared mama Robin or is this an old egg from last season since it's only one.
