I think the bird will be ok. I have 2 cats plus 1 parakeet, and 4 cockateils.
Any little bird that has been out doors, living thru the attack of a nosey cat, would be shy. Maybe it'll always be shy, but if you like bird, and want it, it'll be ok. Be sure to feed it enough. You might want to get a seed cupp for it too.
