There is one minor catch your doctor may not be aware of that is common amongst vegetarians...

Logistically, if you are eating beans, legumes, and substitute dairy products your iron levels are fine.

Realistically, most vegetarians have serious B12 deficiencies. In fact, some dietitians recommend B12 injections rather than just supplementation because it is a serious problem.

Why isn't this detected?

Because folate--which, most vegetarians get PLENTY of via leafy greens, fruits, vegetables, and beans--masks a B12 deficiency, the B12 deficiency is commonly ridden off by doctors as an "iron deficiency" because they can have similar symptoms.

Talk to a dietitian not an MD. All MDs are useful for is prescribing drugs, not food and vitamins. Or, DOs are better trained in holistic medicine, so switch from an MD to a DO at the very least. And get your B12 levels tested.

Stick to being a vegetarian if that is what you believe in! Vegetarians can easily get all of their required nutrients!
