Hi, We're finding that "attitude" and hormonal swings/irritability are suddenly become an issue with our 11 yo. son. He tends to be very lively, engaging, passionate, and usually quite nicely grounded. We've never before witnessed what feels to us like an ONSLAUGHT of sudden "attitude" and "disrespect" episodes, especially with yours truly! Our son has a very strong and healthy sense of self, and is thriving every which way. He has been on a lovely natural foods, organic, vegetarian diet since he was born. He generally gets approx. 10-11 hrs. per night, and is amazing at claiming his need for space. We're wondering what natural supports are available for pre-teens & teens, and whether anyone knows whether increasing omega fatty acid would help? I know that some women use evening primrose oil for irritability during PMS. Think it'd be appropriate for our son at half dose? An aquaintance recommended a product called Efalex which was originally developed for hyperactive children. It apparently supports brain function, and also all the other attributes of omega fatty acids. It contains mostly tuna body oil, with some evening primrose. Our son is not hyperactive or anything like that, so I'm not sure that this product is what he needs. We might just try continuing to be more diligent with 1 tspn.of flaxseed oil daily and see how that goes -- unless anyone else has any other recommendations, or can attest to the importance of essential oils during this time of transition? Thanks so much!! Hoping sanity reigns once again! :^) Keep your fingers crossed for us.
