I had a Paraguard for 3 years (after having 2 kids) and I really liked
it. My periods were a little heavier than they'd been on the Pill, but
they weren't any more painful. The most dramatic thing about my
IUD was signing the risk document right before it was inserted.
Insertion itself was seamless and about as comfortable as a Pap
smear. The strings were easy to check but not easy for my partner
to detect. It never slipped out of place. Lack of natural lubrication
was not an issue.

I'm about to get another IUD and I considered the Mirena because
my nurse practitioner loves hers so much, but the concept of not
having my period every month is a little too progressive for me.

Most women I know use the pill or Mirena but the two women I
know that use the Paraguard say that they will use theirs till
menopause.
