I don't start bleeding until a couple days into the placebo pills; I've always been told that it's fine as long as you're consistent. That's the way I've been since I started the pill 7 years ago and I haven't been preggers yet, so I think it's all good! Also, I've never used any extra protection during the placebo pill time; you shouldn't have to if you've been taking the pill properly (unless you're on anti-biotics, certain types of which can interfere with the efficacy of bc). If you have trouble with condoms, maybe try a different brand, or try them with some lube (make sure it is okay to use with a condom first!) - there are special ones out there for that. C
