| Subject: | what makes a crispy waffle? |

I have what I think is a fairly decent waffle maker (krups) but end up with less crispy-ness than desired in my vegan waffles. I always use the iron on its hottest setting. And flip after about 10 seconds.
Are higher fat recipes more likely to be crispy? Do eggs lend crispy-ness? (Or do I just need to buy a toaster oven? :-)
I'd like to know, in order to pick out good recipes or, perhaps, tweak recipes that aren't ideal but use up something I have on hand, currently almost a can of pumpkin, that I need to use up.
Thanks!
