Again, there's no single answer that applies to everyone. One's weight, metabolism, age, sex, activity level and medical conditions may influence the amount of sugar one might consume.
In Dr. Esselstyn's book, he recommends limiting fruit to 'three pieces a day' (which I assume means three apples, pears, etc.) or 'three servings of berries'.
Dr. Esselstyn's advice is very sound, and for most people will suffice. However, I'm the type of person who wants to know more, and would prefer to limit sugar from fruit to a specific amount, so I could eat more of a low sugar fruit and less of a high sugar one.
For example, 100g of dates have over ten times the sugar as 100g of cantaloupe. So I usually limit myself to about 40g to 60g of fruit, which might be a 3" medium apple (21g of sugar), a navel orange (15g) and a medium papaya (20g) - or could be a banana and a few apricots.
