| Subject: | What What Sweetners are Allowed on Esselstyn's Diet? |

Hello. This is my first time to ask a question. I am so thankful for this site, as it motivated me to fight my own heart disease and led me to Esselstyn's book and diet - just after an angiogram revealed I have significant heart artery blockages (Left Anterior descending artery is 80% blocked, left circumflex artery has 70-80% blockage and RCA was totally occluded). I sincerely consider this site, this forum and Dr. Esselstyn's book as my lifesavers. At least I hope so.
My question(s): I have been practicing Dr. Esselstyn's diet plan faithfully for two weeks now and am losing significant weight, and feel better than I have generally in twenty years, and don't want to do anything diet wise that might would set me back. I noticed in the recipe's that are provided at the back of Dr. Esselstyn's book that many of them allow for a small amount of Maple Syrup. I have recently added a teaspoon of black strap mollasses to my oats in the morning. Is this going to hurt my efforts is reversing the disease? And to what extent can I utilize various sweetners in my diet regimen without realistically hurting my efforts to reverse these blockages? Thank you!
