Herman,
Dr. Pinckney gave you a good idea of a Feijoada. I will try to add some other ideas.
Feijoada is made of 4 or 5 plates that are distributed over a table, with some drinks to welcome guests. (we never prepare a feijoada for just a person). Feijoada is better to eat at lunch time. The main plates we put on a table are: black bean stew, rice, kale cut in thin pices, toasted manioc flour and pieces of oranges. Oranges are good to balance with the strong taste of the other ingredients.
I would like prefer to post a vegan version of a feijoada and I will look with my local brazilian friends a good recipe to post for you.
Cheers,
Ricardo
