Pollution and Pesticides

QuestionI am a vegetarian living in Seoul, Korea. I'm concerned about the level of pollution in this city. Are there are dietary or supplemental choices that I could make to help combat the effects of living in a polluted environment? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

AnswerEnvironmental pollution is also a concern to us here in the United States. A plant-based diet, without supplements, and pure water is very important.

If you are worried also about pesticide residues on your vegetables and fruits, peel or wash them. Generally, the benefits of vegetables and fruits far outweighs any negative effects from pesticide residues. Of course, organically grown food would be best, when available. The only thing you can't control is the air you breathe. But let's face it, the greatest pollutant is animal fat and protein. Avoid that and you will overcome the less serious effects of air pollution.
